MetroWest Golf Club underwent a 1.5 million dollar course renovation on the Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Signature course. The layout, managed by Marriott Golf, is located only 10 minutes away from Universal Studios and less than 30 minutes from Walt Disney World.

“We are very pleased with this course renovation project at MetroWest. It further enhances what has long been considered an unmatched Orlando golfing experience,” said MetroWest General Manager Steve Schaller. “This renovation has been  well received by better players, but it also addresses two significant golfer demands that have been outlined by the USGA and The PGA of America, which is pace of play and the overall playability of today’s golf course layouts.”

Under the direction of Billy Fuller Golf Design of Atlanta, Ga., the project included the re-design of all greens and surfacing with TifEagle turf Bermuda grass that provides players with better putting conditions.

The bunkers also underwent a major renovation to minimize erosion and maintenance costs. The bunker count and size went from 80 bunkers with approximately 135,000 square feet of sand to 41 bunkers totaling 42,000 square feet of sand.  This reduction in sand area and bunker count offered outstanding strategic quality while dramatically reducing maintenance cost.  The renovation also enlarging greens to original size and capturing additional key pin locations.
