The River Club

The River Club in Clarksville, Tennessee is a bold stoke on golf’s business model.  The club has nine flexible holes, including three with separate greens and six with double greens that allow for a second hole location.  The design, with as many as five tees per hole, can play in three, six, and nine hole loops and stretch up to 7,150 yards for 18 holes.

The utility of the course is augmented by the expansive 25 acre practice range. The practice range  includes over 100,000 square feet of tee surface with 15 target greens, bunkers featuring white and river sand, dedicated chipping greens and putting surfaces with Miniverde Ultra-Dwarf Bermuda grass and A-1 bent grasses. Part of the practice area is lighted for night play.

One of the biggest challenges was the Red River and the recognition that Mother Nature will sometimes rule the property.  Low lying retention basins were built to guide water back to the river as quickly as possible and minimize the number of lost golfing days.
